How to become an LPG technician
A step-by-step guide
Do you to want work as an LPG technician in The Netherlands? Learn how to obtain the necessary certifications via IBKI.
Step 1: Check the requirements
Check the basic requirements before applying for an exam. We've listed the prices too. You'll need at least the following:
A valid diploma or equivalent certificate. Check wetten.overheid.nl to see if your diploma qualifies. Please note, foreign diplomas need to be assessed first. You can arrange an assessment via the IcDW (Information Center Diploma Evaluation)
A good command of the Dutch language. Unfortunately, we only offer these exams in Dutch.
Step 2: Apply for the exam
Send a copy of your valid, assessed diploma or certificate to us via this form. Pick the option: Ik heb een andere vraag
Step 3: Take the exam
Got accepted? Congrats! Now you can plan the exam via Mijn IBKI.
Invitation details
After registration, you will receive an invitation by e-mail for your exam with the following instructions:
Date, time & location of the exam.
Bring safety shoes in the case of a practical exam
Bring a valid, unexpired ID. This can be a passport, driver's licence or ID-card from The Netherlands or your country of origin.

What to do after you've passed?
If you pass, you will receive a certificate. After the administrative processing of the results, you will receive the official result, within 5-12 working days, by email. If necessary, ask the supervisor on site for the details.
The certificate is valid for 4 years and allows you to work as an LPG technician in The Netherlands. After 4 years you need to renew the certificate by doing further training and a separate exam.
